The Inlets Social Committee

The Social Committee at The Inlets-Nokomis is entirely comprised of residents residing here, including long-term renters.

The Social Committee monthly meetings are held in the clubhouse library on the second Thursday of the month. Everyone is welcomed and new ideas are appreciated.

An overall planning meeting is held in January when the calendar for the year is established.  Meetings are open to all residents, and all are welcome to attend. The Chair and Co-chair preside over the meetings while the secretary & treasurer assist.   Volunteers willing to take charge of Monthly Mixers, inventory, and supply closets, day trips, breakfasts etc. also contribute to decisions.

The primary purposes of the Social Committee are:

1.  Set a calendar for the year, realizing that it is subject to change.

2. Assist volunteer hosts with planning and execution of a successful event with Party Packets, planning, budgeting, tours of rooms and supplies, decorating, and other items.

3.  Work with the Clubhouse Committee to share overlapping duties.

Funds for Social events and available supplies are obtained through the sale of tickets and occasionally fund raisers.  A minimal amount of money is kept in the checking account to cover deposits which may be required to hold entertainers or caterers.

The rest goes to purchasing items for the storage closet, paper goods, sterno, coffee, tea, condiments, etc.  The practice of keeping these goods available is to reduce work done by hosts, reduce costs (since buying in bulk is less expensive) and reduce the chance of running out of supplies during an event.  While a zero balance is ideal, when planning, it must be kept in mind that these items may need to be replaced and a small profit contributes to these supplies.  No money is budgeted through our maintenance HOA fees in consideration of the neighbors who do not choose to attend events.  The Social Committee is non-profit and self-supporting.  Please join us at events and in the planning of them.
